About Us

The McGill Genome Centre is led by a collaborative team of principal investigators who oversee platform development, strategic direction, and integration across multi-omic domains

Mark Lathrop, PhD

Scientific Director

Dr. Mark Lathrop is an internationally recognized leader in human genomics and statistical genetics. As Founding Scientific Director of the McGill Genome Centre, he oversees the development of large-scale infrastructure for genomic, proteomic, and multi-omic research. He brings decades of experience leading national and international genomics initiatives, including the founding of major institutes in France, the UK, and Canada. His work continues to drive advances in disease gene discovery, population health, and precision medicine.

Ioannis Ragoussis, PhD

Head of Genome Sciences

Professor Ioannis (Jiannis) Ragoussis, PhD is Head of Genome Sciences at the McGill Genome Centre and Associate Director at CGEn. He has the scientific oversight of the McGill Genome Centre’s Genomics platforms with a focus on technology development and implementation. He also leads the Centre’s Advanced Genomic Technologies (AGT) team, focusing on the evaluation and implementation of emerging sequencing technologies and integration of new tools for single-cell, long-read, and spatial genomics. His work contributes to collaborative research in cancer genomics, infectious disease, and population genomics as well as the Canadian Biogenome Project.

Daniel Auld, PhD

Deputy Director, Head of Operations

Dr. Daniel Auld is the Deputy Director and Head of Operations at the McGill Genome Centre, where he helps oversee the strategy, coordination, and sustainability of the Centre’s multi-omic platforms. He leads cross-functional operations, technology evaluation, contract negotiation, and cost-recovery planning—ensuring the Genome Centre remains efficient, integrated, and at the cutting edge of genomic science. In addition to directing large-scale project execution, Dr. Auld continues to pursue research in genomics and molecular biology.

Guillaume Bourque, PhD

Director, Bioinformatics

Dr. Guillaume Bourque is Director of Bioinformatics at the McGill Genome Centre and leads the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G), a national platform for advanced bioinformatics services. His team supports data analysis across all Genome Centre platforms, offering both standardized pipelines and tailored workflows for genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and multi-omic integration. His work contributes to the development of national data infrastructure and supports large-scale biomedical research across Canada and internationally.

“Our mission is to bring advanced genomic technologies into practice - by combining innovation with deep technical expertise to deliver problem - specific solutions for researchers worldwide.”
